October 9, 2003—MKG Art Management LLC, a Houston-based art advising firm, is exhibiting a group exhibition curated by Mary Leclère titled The Space of Writing. The exhibition includes the works of California- based artists David Bunn, Sam Durant and Frances Stark. The show will open to the public on Saturday, October 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitors can also view the exhibition during its regular hours, October 27 – November 22, from 9 to 5 p.m.
The Space of Writing will address the issue of space in text-based works by David Bunn, Sam Durant, and Frances Stark. The exhibition’s intent is to consider the role of space within the work itself, and to examine the space of reading in relation to the “reading” of space(s). The three artists whose work will be included in this exhibition appropriate texts from literary, archival or pop cultural sources, recontextualizing them within the space of the work as well as the social/cultural space of the gallery.
